This will be the space where I record and recount all my adventures on my trip to the 2011 Rugby world cup.
I will try to keep it updated on a daily basis while in New Zealand and will be posting match reports and pictures while on my travels.
My original plans for this trip were very simple, based with friends in Darfield, about an hour outside of Christchurch, and travel to games a day or so before and then home again. simple right?
WRONG!
After a few days I found out that my dad and Colin (friend we are staying with) had decided to book a camper-van for the month that we are all across for! So now this trip will be the most epic of road trips, travelling up and down the highways of NZ following Scotland and maybe trying the local treats!
Shortly after the earthquake in Christchurch the IRB (world body for rugby) announced that the games in Christchurch would no longer be taking place and they would announce in due course the alternative arrangements.
Well, those arrangements were announced today, and TWO Scotland matches have been moved (even though only one was in Christchurch) firstly the Scotland - Georgia match will now take place in Invercargill instead of Dunedin and that the Scotland - Argentina match will now take place in Wellington (which I instead weeks ago!)
What this means is that I have my first week in NZ in and around Invercargill and my last week on the north island. (well that is the plan at the moment)
So, I suppose that about sums it up for my first post. I will be posting alot more as the Rugby World Cup approaches, but for the moment this will do.
