So, the big countdown is on and it’s only 22 weeks until I start my journey to rugby nirvana… The 2011 Rugby World Cup.
It might seem like a long time, but as I have discovered, time really does fly! It doesn't seem like a year a go that I was starting to plan this trip, working out details like: how to get a month paid off work, how to finance the trip and other minor things like that out, but now with 5 and a half months to go, this trip is fast becoming a reality.
Now with all major trips will come major headaches, this trip is no different.
I’ve got to work out what is coming with me and what is staying, which when you consider that I will be away for a month, is going to be a very long list.
First thing on the list is my camera kit, this is a must and will be carry on luggage, I’m not letting or trusting anyone else with it. (If it ends up broken then it’s my own fault). After that, well I’m kind of stuck, aside from medication and clothes what else will I really need for a month? Having never been away for more than two weeks I’m not sure, do i just double the amount of clothing I take?
On the subject of camera kit, even that I’m not sure what I will be taking, mainly because I’m not sure what kit I will have. One camera body, at least 3 lenses, possibly a flash gun and who knows what else i will have acquired by the time I travel. I think I might need a bigger camera bag!
Oh Laptop will be coming too, how else would i keep the world informed of my traveling experience!
So, that is camera kit, and laptop… Hmm I should probably take more than that, but what the hell, I’m sure I can get what ever I need there!
Oh, and I need to find out if I need (and if i do, how to get it) photo accreditation for the matches. Time to Email the IRB I think.
Best piece of travel advice ever.
ReplyDeleteLayout everything you think you're taking
Then take half as many clothes and twice
As much money.
